Applicability for Payment of wages act:-
- Every person employed in any factory, to persons employed upon any railway or through sub-contractor in a railway and a person employed in an industrial or other establishment.
- The State Government may by notification extend the provision to any class of persons employed in any establishment or class of establishments.
Eligibility:- Every persons who is employed in any of the above mentioned establishments and who is drawing less than 24,000/- per month is eligible .
The Payment of wages act prescribes for :-
- The regular and timely payment of wages ( On or before 7 th or 10 th day after last day of the wage period in respect of which the wages are payable)
- Preventing unauthorised deductions being made from wages and arbitrary fines.
- Wages to be paid in current coin or currency notes or by cheque or by crediting the wages in the bank account of the employee.
Provided that the appropriate Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, Specify the industrial or other establishment , the employer of which shall p[ay to every person employed in such industrial or other establishment, the wages only by cheque or by crediting the wages in his bank account.
